SC Freedom Caucus to File Legislation Redrawing 6th Congressional District to End Democrat Stronghold, Advance Trump Agenda
The South Carolina Freedom Caucus announced today that it will file legislation to redraw the 6th Congressional District—currently a safe Democrat seat held by Jim Clyburn—to make it competitive for a Republican and ensure full alignment with President Trump’s conservative agenda in Congress.
Congressman Ralph Norman was correct when he said: “We have Republican supermajorities in South Carolina. Let’s use them… move our House delegation from 6‑1 to 7‑0.” The Freedom Caucus agrees—and unlike some others in Columbia, we’re prepared to take action.
We’re aware of the claim from House Majority Leader Davey Hiott that there is “zero interest” in redrawing the lines. That may be true for some establishment politicians that are more concerned with collaborating with Democrats in Columbia rather than fighting for conservative victories in Washington—but it is absolutely not true of the Freedom Caucus.
When the Left wins power, they use it—aggressively, unapologetically, and with terrible results. When conservatives win power, too many Republican leaders cower in fear of bad headlines or looking “unreasonable”. That kind of weakness is how we lose the country. It’s why the Freedom Caucus exists—to ensure that when the people give us the majority, we use it to fight for the America First agenda they voted for.
Redrawing the 6th District is about restoring competitive elections and giving hundreds of thousands of South Carolinians the full voice they deserve in Washington. As long as Democrats like Jim Clyburn enjoy untouchable safe seats, they will continue to obstruct President Trump’s agenda, undermine our values, and protect the D.C. swamp.
We intend to change that. The Freedom Caucus will be filing legislation to redraw the 6th District, strengthen South Carolina’s voice in Congress, and ensure every seat is pulling in the direction of bold, unapologetic conservatism.
The time for excuses is over. The time to lead is now.

Fantastic move. Make sure it happens
I love what the SC Freedom Caucus is doing.
